My Adventures Of Hawaii
It is summer break, so me, my uncle, brother, and mom went to Hawaii!
My Adventure At Manoa Falls
For the first few days it was just settling in, but then me and my mom decided to go to Manoa Falls! We came at around 8:00 AM, parked, and got ready to go! We started walking, and when the first views came, I ended up in utter amazement! It was so lush, green, and fresh. The air was also very pure. I loved it! It took us about 45 minutes to an hour till we reached the end of the trail, and that was when I saw my first glimpse of the Manoa Falls! It was amazing! The water started way up high, and fell into a pond when it reached the ground. We watched and relaxed a while before we started back. Even though it is fairly easy to come back, the slipperiness and unevenness of the trail makes it a bit tricky to come back, so you need to watch your step! I really enjoyed Manoa Falls, and can’t wait for another adventure!
The Waikiki Fun!
Waikiki beach. One of the most visited places in Oahu. Well, we are in Oahu, so we went to Waikiki Beach to play! It was nice! First of all, I have to talk about the scenery. It was BEAUTIFUL. It was very nice. With the waves splashing on the shore, and the sand whooshing. First, me and my brother played in the sand, then my mom joined us, and we all pitched in and made a sand castle! It was so nice! And I buried myself in the sand! It was really nice! And we had a lot of fun! And the most fun was making the sand castle! We had a lot of fun!
The Chinatown Experience
We got ready, and headed to Chinatown Honolulu! Chinatown is an area where people of Chinese and Asian cultures live. My mom thought it would be neat if we got to experience what Chintatown is like. And it was pretty neat. What we did there was mostly go shopping. The shopping complexes were divided into 2 main groups: the Oahu group and Mauna Kea group. When we entered, I saw that the shopping complexes were bustling with Chinese culture and heritage. We shopped in both areas, then looked around. It was nice! We had a pretty good time!
First Time Trying Sugarcane Juice And Farmer’s Market!
We got ready in the morning, and walked to the farmer’s market! And the first thing we did when we got there was that my mom ordered a big cup of sugar cane juice! Now this was my first time trying sugarcane juice, so I had no idea how it would taste! But, fortunately I loved it! In fact, I guzzled down the entire cup! After that, we decided to do some shopping. We went and we got some delicious fresh Hawaiian fruits and vegetables. We also got a surprise, some mochis! All of us liked it. We even got a big glass of sugarcane juice for my little brother, but unfortunately, he did not like it! Overall, it was an excellent day and also a day I will remember for the rest of my life!
The Dole Adventure
Today, we decided to go to the Dole Plantation. The Dole Plantation is located on the way to the North Shore, a part of honolulu. We got there at around 10:00, and stepped out of the car. Firstly, we looked around and saw what they had. I felt like I entered a pineapple kingdom! (It was partly). First, we saw some pineapples that were growing! They were red, but don’t freak out! Actually, that’s the color that pineapples are before they turn yellow! After that, we went to the maze! Dole’s pineapple maze in 2008 was the world’s biggest maze according to the Guiness Book Of Records. So my uncle and I went and tried to navigate it. The goal was to find 8 secret stations, but we only found 3. When we found our way back to the exit, I was so hot and tired. It felt like putting a very hot fire and sitting next to it for an hour wearing a snow jacket. And I was so thirsty that you could have compared me to dehydrated astronaut food! So, fortunately, There was a food and beverage station, so I got an icy cold pineapple float and cold lemonade, and you can guess what happened after that…Brainfreeze!!
Diamond Head: What happened
Huh? I muttered sleepily as my mom awoke me. It was 6:00 Am. But I knew why. We were going to Diamond head! We all got in the car at 6:30. We “all” included my uncle, brother, me, and my mom. We arrived at around 6:55. Now, my brother, who is four, could not complete the hike because he would get too tired midway, so, instead, my uncle dropped me and my mother off. So, we got to the beginning of the trail by 7:00. Soon, we started. Actually, until you get at least a quarter way up, you don’t have much to see because the trail up to that point is covered in shrubs and trees. But once we got a quarter way up, what we saw was nice; we saw the Oahu mountains and the view of Honolulu city! About 30 minutes after that, we reached the top! And, the view is unimaginable! It’s like looking down on earth from the ISS! At the top, one one side you can see the waves lapping against the beach, and can see the sand banks! ! And on the other side, a splendid view of the Oahu mountains and Honolulu! It was so nice!
The Tales Of Maui
We boarded Hawaiian airlines…and then…..we were off to Maui! When we first stepped off the plane, I was amazed! It was so beautiful! Now, unlike Oahu, Maui is very unique. It is a microenvironment. So near Hana, which is a small town, is is all rainforest type environments, but near kihei or OGG (Kahului Airport), it is more of a desert climate, so, it is more like a dessert, so it looked a bit dry with mountains and valleys. But still, you would be AMAZED. Soon after, my dad picked us up from the airport, and went to where we were going to stay. After that, the next day, we went to the pool! Our place we were going to stay was called LuanaKai Resort, and they had a nice pool! So, me and my dad swam in it and we had a blast! Also, the next day, we celebrated an early birthday for my younger brother! That day, we ate a nice breakfast, and went to some beautiful lookouts! We also went to the pool that day too! And the next two days, we spent most of the time at Maui’s Famous Beaches and went to Io valley, a sacred place. It was green, and beautiful. The third day, it was time to leave. We had a pretty nice time, and can’t wait to go back!
Makapu'u Adventures
We just came back from Maui, and we went to the Makapuu trail! It was so lush and green, you could see the ocean, and at the end, you could see the Makapuu lighthouse! The views were gorgeous! And the best part was when it started raining at the end of the hike! It was a really nice hike and I loved it!
The Blast Of The Battleships!
Today, we went to Pearl Harbor! Now, I am telling you, I was REALLY excited! Our plan was to go to the USS Missouri, The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, and then, the USS Bowfin Submarine! First, we went on a tour of the USS Missouri. The USS Missouri, (BB-63) is an Iowa Class Battleship. It has served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War. It is also the site of a Kamikaze attack, and is also the site of the Japanese surrender to the US. We walked to the surrender deck, and the site of the Kamikaze attack. When we were done, we headed to PHAM, (Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum). There, we watched a film about the Pearl Harbor Attack. Then, we proceeded to Hangar 79, where we saw all kinds of US aircraft. Then, we headed out, and proceeded to the submarine USS Bowfin! There, we saw the inside of the sub and it was where I took a submarine action test where I became an honorary submariner because I got all of them correct! Soon, it was time to come back. My mom had to drag me out of there with superhuman strength! I did not want to go, but I had to. I had a really fun time!
Aloha Big Island!:
Wooooosh! Landing! We have landed in big island! The first thing we did was rent our car, then zoomed away to the hawaii volcanoes national park! So, we entered! The first thing we did was drive to the visitor center, to see where we had to go. So, we found out we could go on the crater rim drive wich is a drive through a bunch of craters. Then, we went and saw the edge of Big Island, and then, went on 2 beautiful volcano hikes. We got to see Kilauea! Then we got to oir hotel, the Grand Naniloa Resort, A Doubletree By Hilton! It was nice! The second day, we went to the farmers market and got some nice passion fruits and….too many things I can talk about.
We also went outside and took a walk to coconut island. The wind was whistling. In Hilo, it is all very colorful. The deserts, the ocean, and all the flowers. The next day was…my brother’s birthday! We went to Akaka Falls, where we got drenched in rain, and wailuku river hawaii state park, where we saw a beautiful waterfall! It was fun! The next day we went to the zoo, and walked outside. We saw so many nice animals, and it was very fun. We had so much fun,and I didn’t want to leave. But the next day, my mom, brother, and uncle left for Honolulu.
North Shore!
Today, we went to the north shore! It was early morning and we hoped to catch the sunrise. But, it was to late, so, we didn’t catch it. But instead, we stayed and went to the beach. It was a beach lover’s paradise! Then, we went to my most treacherous hike I have ever been on. The Lanikai Pillbox Hike. Thun, Thun, Thun!! It was so hard, we had to climb a high, rocky, wall with nothing to hold onto but a rope that I wouldn’t trust! And there were rocks. Everywhere. And nothing to hold but a flimsy and shaky fence. Fortunately, we made it back safely. We had so much fun and am looking forward for more!
Ko’olina, the fulfillment of joy:
Hmmm……how can I say this…..well, we decided to go swimming. We wanted to go somewhere where my brother could play in the water with some supervision, so we set out for a place called ko’olina. Ko’o lina is a series of shallow lagoons. A haven for kid’s swimming. When we got there, I was captivated by the beauty! The crystal-blue waves, the gleaming sand, the panorama was beautiful. You could hear the soft splash of the water, the wind in your ears. Woosh! Splash! For a while I just floated, but then, I started swimming! The feeling of being in the water is just, you feel free. You are floating and moving. It’s like magic. We had so much fun, but after a while, we decided to go back. It was so fun, and I will remember it forever!
Fit For A King:
Today, we went to Iolani palace! Iolani palace is well, a palace! It was home of the kings and queens of Hawai’i. Hawai’i. When we walked in, it was grand! Jewelry! Gold! Finery! Dresses! Suits! Extravagance! It was all there! We were part of a tour that showed us everywhere. It was luxurious! The rooms were amazing! There were fine blankets, jeweled vintage, and more! It was grand, and was fit for a king and queen!
The Japanese Beauty!
Rolling hills. Green grass. Flowing water. Peace. Beauty. All of this was at the Byodo-in temple at Oahu, Hawai’i. When you enter the temple grounds, you immediately feel a new sense of the place. The wind, water, and peace. When we got there, we started to walk around. We saw a bell, and rang it! We also walked to the meditation area. It was quiet, and nice. We also went inside the temple. We walked around, and looked around. We also saw that something was there! We saw some koi fish! We went to the visitor center to get some fish food to feed the fish! By then, we had to leave though. We walked around 1 last time, and left. The temple was a place full of peace and beauty, and I will remember it forever!
