Article Number 3 In The Space Gazette
Commercial Spaceflight Program:
The commercial spaceflight program is a program where commercial spaceflight companies take NASA astronauts to a low earth orbit, or even to Mars.
Dragon and SpaceX
SpaceX is a company that is dedicated to the colonization of Mars, and the reusability of rockets. Its founder is Elon Musk and one of its spaceships is Dragon. There is a crew Dragon and a cargo Dragon. Dragon is designed to carry crew to the ISS aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, also spaceX’s creation. Some other spacecraft that they are inventing are Starship and some rockets are Falcon Heavy, Falcon 9, and Super Heavy.
Boeing And Starliner
Boeing is an aeronautics and space company. It is very famous for its airplanes, but also makes satellites and spacecraft. Its Starliner, a state of the art spacecraft, is designed to take astronauts or supplies to the ISS. It lands in Texas unlike most other American spacecraft, which land in water. But hey, it works. It also has another contribution to NASA. Ever heard of the world’s greatest piggyback ride, well, the aircraft that carries the space shuttle or the Apollo Moon Buggy? It's Boeing's brand.
Virgin Galactic and Spaceship 2
Virgin Galactic is a very unique company. Its Spaceship 2 is more of a mashup between a plane and a rocket. Virgin Galactic’s Spaceship 2 launches, or should I say takes off from a runway on the white Knight, also Virgin’s and is air launched high up, but then uses its engine to continue the flight. Then , it reenters the atmosphere, and glides down on a runway like the space shuttle. Majestic and unique. It currently has no way to orbit but only is able to complete suborbital flights.
Sierra Nevada And Dreamchaser
Dreamchaser…most people would compare it to America’s space shuttles. But even though it’s smaller, it can carry up to 8 people and has better propulsion, and lands on a runway. It is currently also part of the commercial spaceflight corporation like all the other companies.
Blue Origin And New Shepard:
New Shepard is Blue Origin’s suborbital space capsule. It launches in Texas and gives a few minutes to pass the Karman line, leaving the atmosphere and reaching space.
